Blessings of Living in Christ
Those of us who have confessed (declared) Jesus as Lord, out of a believing heart, are now in Christ. Although still in this world, we’re no longer of it. We’re born of God, living in this world. According to Romans 5:17, we are to reign in this life as kings, by Jesus Christ. Not as paupers or peasants, but as kings (Amplified Bible). As kings, we have no authority over fellow humans. We do, however, have authority over all evil spirits and circumstances which try to thwart God’s blessings in other people’s lives, as well as in ours.
Everything we do in this life is to be done through Jesus Christ. We are authorized by Jesus to take His place, in this world. I know that Jesus is in Heaven, however we-the Church, Christ’s body-are to represent Jesus in the earth today. We have God’s Word, the Name of Jesus, we’re covered by the Blood of Jesus, and we’re led by the Holy Spirit of God. What more could we have, to do our part?
Wherever we go, we ought to be mindful of the fact that God is with us, for us, and in us. In our spirits, in Christ, where we live, move, and have our very being. Everything that God is doing in the earth today is by His Spirit-the Holy Spirit. And what God is doing He’s doing through people, just like you and me. Those who are in Christ, the church universal (Ephesians 1:22,23; Colossians 1:18).
Being in Christ means that we see situations as God sees them, as opportunities for change. First in us, then with the situation. Always applying the unchanging will of God to the temporal matter before us. When properly applied, the unchanging always changes the changeable. Always. By saying what God’s word says, no matter how big the problem portrays itself as being before us. By acting in line with what is being said in God’s Word, out of a believing heart. Particularly in the New Testament Epistles, letters written to us as believers.
From Romans to Jude there are many scriptures which pertain to our individual lives: spiritually, physically, financially, and materially. No, there won’t always be a specific verse for every situation. But there will always be a verse or verses to help us through to the other side.
That’s another reason why it’s critical that we spend quality time in God’s Word, feeding our spirits with the only food which they’ll ever need. Faith comes by hearing what God tells us in His Holy Word (Romans 10:17).
